Making the Most out of Your Individual Headshot Session:

If you’re like most people, getting in front of a camera can be nerve-wracking. Not sure where to look or what to do with your hands? Don’t worry, I’ve got you. With proper posing, lighting, and background choice, we can work together to capture the perfect headshot.

I advise clients to come in on shooting day well-rested and ready to have fun. It’s helpful to know what kind of vibe you’re going for—casual, formal, professional, etc. Have multiple looks in mind? No problem! I’m happy to test out a variety of backgrounds, poses, and lighting to achieve your headshot vision.

The best way to get a great headshot is to keep an open mind and be willing to try different things. I’ll make sure you’re looking your best in every frame.

Andrew is very professional, patient, and wants the best for you.

Pro-Tips for Choosing your Individual Headshot Background:

When deciding on a background, I advise clients to ask themselves the following questions:

  • Which outfit or outfits do I want to wear?

  • What do I want to say with my headshot?

  • Who am I targeting with this headshot? Ex: Potential employers, prospects, current clients, etc.

Still not sure which background to choose? No problem! In the studio, you can try out multiple options to find the right fit for you.  And whichever backdrop you choose, I’ll work with you to make sure your background meets your session goals.

Color Blocks

Think professional headshots are a tad too conventional for your brand? Think again! Many of my clients choose to jazz up their headshots using color blocks—bold, solid-colored backgrounds that add that extra “oomph.” These blocks of color are a fun way to express your personality and hone in on your personal brand.

If you’re looking to stand out and showcase your creativity, color blocks are the way to go. Coordinate your background with your outfit, or throw in a complimentary color to make your headshot pop.

Why Use Color Blocks?

Color blocks are the best way to make a statement without saying anything at all. Using vibrant colors, you can immediately convey your desired message to your target clients, employers, and partners.

Color blocks might be a great fit for you if:

  • You’re a creative professional looking for an impactful way to express your brand

  • You want to stand out from the crowd and from competitors

  • A color block headshot will connect better with your audience than a corporate headshot would

  • You’d like to use this headshot across a variety of brand mediums (ie: LinkedIn, Instagram, even print!)

You will instantaneously know that Andrew has been doing this so long that he operates on instinct.... The first thing he did was look at what we were wearing and select a very specific background to match us.
